Making Waves on Campus with Sydney Isseks

In 2019, Beachwaver launched our college ambassador program, the Campus Wave! Each month, campus reps get a box full of Beachwaver goodies to help spread the word about The Beachwaver Co. on their campuses!

Below, meet Sydney Isseks who is studying public relations at the University of Florida

What is your favorite Beachwaver product?
To choose my favorite Beachwaver product is a challenging task. I initially fell in love with the Beachwaver brand when I received a S1.25 Beachwaver as a gift. Another favorite Beachwaver product of mine is the BRB Blonde Purple Shampoo and Conditioner.

What is your favorite part of being a member of Beachwaver’s Campus Wave?
Being a member of Beachwaver's Campus Wave has been an amazing experience for me. I have learned more about social media marketing in the beauty and fashion industry which is where I hope to be working in the future. I also love that I was connected to amazing people from all different schools based on the idea of looking good and feeling better.

What do you expect to be doing 10 years from now?
In 10 years from now, I hope to be working as a PR executive at a major fashion corporation in a big city. I hope to be well traveled, but most importantly I hope to be healthy, happy, and surrounded by loved ones. I can picture opening a large glass door to a crisp clean white office with accents of color, a large desk with a coffee and a smile on my face ready to start the day.

What is an obstacle you’ve faced, and how did you get through?
One of the harder obstacles I had to face was the pressure that I put on myself to fit in. I always felt that people would only want to get to know me if I acted a certain way or had a particular look. I soon came to realize that I should not forgo the things that I like in order to please someone else. I have come into my own style and ways of expression that may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it sure is mine.

 What is your life motto?
The motto that I try to live by each day is "be true to you." There are so many times in life that people change who they are to fit a certain image even though being true to themselves is all that they ever really needed to do.

 How do you define success?
My definition of success is ultimately being happy. Many people define being successful as being famous or wealthy, but what good is any of that if you are not happy doing it?

What’s the craziest hair trend you ever rocked?
One of the craziest hair trends that I rocked (not including Crazy Hair Day in elementary school) was my half-up space buns that I wore to a music festival.

As a Campus Rep, Sydney was offered the opportunity to donate product to her charity of choice!
The charity I would like to donate to is Beauty Bus. This organization supports terminally ill patients and caregivers by bringing them beauty products.
