BBQs and Braids

Fire up the grill because summer is officially here! There is nothing like the feeling of sunshine on your face, splashing around in the pool, late night bonfires, and a hot dog to round out the day. But while you are soaking up all the summer heat, the last thing you want to worry about is keeping your hair out of your face in a cute style throughout the day. These are just a few easy and beautiful braids for BBQ season.

Basic Bubble Braid

While this style is labeled as a “basic bubble braid” it looks anything but basic. It is trendy and an easy look to achieve. No need to worry if this braid will easily come undone while sweating it out over a hot grill.

Step 1: Prep the hair using Braid Balm

Step 2: Create a ponytail towards the crown of your head. Take hair from the root on the left and from the right, brush them together to create another mini ponytail. Then “bubble” the piece between the two ponytails by pulling it out a little bit on each side and in the middle.

Step 3: Repeat this pattern until you get to the nape of the neck or run out of hair from the base.

Step 4: Create a bubble pattern towards the ends of the hair by placing an elastic about an inch from the one before it and “bubble” it out.

Rope Braid

Now this braid has quickly become a standout on social media for its simplicity and its beauty. This style can be completed in no time!

Step 1: Create a ponytail with the hair and prep it with Braid Balm

Step 2: Separate the ponytail into two sections. Twist both sections to the right.

Step 3: Bring the right section over the left, then the new right over the new left, and repeat all the way down and secure with an elastic.

Faux Fishtails

If you are easily intimidated by the idea of braiding or simply are running low on time in need of a quick hair fix, this is the perfect style for you to try!

Step 1: Part your hair down the middle to create two low pigtails.

Step 2: Start on the right. Pull your elastic down a little bit and do a topsy tail by creating an opening in the hair above the elastic and flipping the hair below the elastic up and through the opening. Then “pancake” or pull at the sides. You should already start to see a fishtail pattern form.

Step 3: Then slide the elastic down again, create another topsy tail creating a different opening than previously used. Pancake that section and repeat all the way down the section.

Step 4: Pancake the entire braid and use Team Texture for some extra volume and grip.

Step 5: Repeat the entire process on the left pigtail to create two voluminous faux fishtail braids.

Not only are these styles easy to do, but they can easily make you the trendiest at the inaugural summer BBQ.
